Current Event
"Obama Faces Questions on Federal Fight for Same Sex Marriage" is a recent article written and posted on ABC news.com.
Focus Points:
1.) - Obama has not always believed in same sex marriage, he recently changed his position on the issue and said after time with his evolving viewpoints he now agrees with gay marriage.
2.) - He took up the fight to repeal the Defense Of Marriage Act publicly.
3.) - Mitt Romney thinks we should put into place a constitutional amendment that bans same sex marriage.
Questions:
1.) Is Mitt Romney completely against the idea of gay marriage or is that what he thinks the strong conservative voters want to hear?
2.) Why did Obama not have an opinion on the issue? Is it okay with him acting like Switzerland considering its such a huge problem right now and so controversial?
3.) Should the president be portrayed as a super star on television shows or is that disrespecting his position of power?

Poem
Who Said That Love Was Fire?
Patience Worth
Who said that love was fire?
I know that love is ash.
It is the thing which remains
When the fire is spent,
The holy essence of experience.
I know that love is ash.
It is the thing which remains
When the fire is spent,
The holy essence of experience.

Google supposedly has the answers to everything. It contains any information you could ever imagine, and provides pictures from all over the world. But can it answer the simplest of questions? Why is life so hard? When you google that answer in the search bar Yahoo answers tries to make some sense out of this question, and articles are written trying to decipher the answer. But there is no true answer, it's all just a matter of opinion. This question confuses me, there is no real answer. In my classes at school math makes the most sense to me because the answers are perfectly clear. I guess that's just how my brain works. What's beautiful?
The lakes in Wisconsin are absolutely breathtaking. In the winter and in the summer they sparkle with ice or water. It's a magical feeling to have the waves bouce you through the wind while you're sailing along. Being on the water in Wisconsin is a truly inspiring place that gives you hope that nothing could ever go wrong there, that there is no ugly in the world, that life really can be beautiful. Imagine being in the middle of the lake, arms spread laying on the front of the pontoon, at sunset on the forth of July. The fireworkds spread accross the sky is almost too good to be true. Imagine Christmas Eve spent warm in the snow, you feel in touch with the planets beauty. The moon is so bright against the snow it doesn't even feel like midnight. And to make the wonders of the lake even more meaningful, you notice that the person standing by your side soaking up every minute of it with you is the one you are in love with.

Taking a Stand
I took a stand against girls being denied access to education three years ago. This specific issue really pulled on my heart when I heard about how unfair women and girls were treated here in America and all across the world. According to statistics, when women have jobs and create an income for their family they put more of that money into supporting the household than men. Education is where it all starts, it helps women not to fall into a constant cycle of poverty, hunger, and prostitution. I joined a club called Girls Learn International in 2009, in 2010 I became the leader of the club only as a sophmore and will lead it through 2013. I truly feel like the money we raise for our partner school in Pakistan is making a difference in their lives. It helps them continue their education and persue their dreams. Friday, April 13, 2012

Words Meaningful to ME
Words of wisdom from my dad- "trust your feet, they know what they're
doing." When I was only twelve years old, I went on a family vacation to
Colorado. During his prime years, my dad was an awesome rock climber, or so I had
convinced myself at such a young age. When we went out on that steep rock and I
felt as if I was stuck in a rut, he told me those words that will stick with me
forever. I have been able to apply that theory to many areas of my life. When
you look deeper into the meaning it says trust your gut, you have the knowledge
and strength to keep moving and dig deeper and accomplish any task you set your
mind to. On that day with my tiny heart pounding at the thought that maybe I couldn’t
make it to the top of the small mountain, I did. I found the courage to do so,
but without those words of encouragement, I don’t know if I could’ve.

A to Zen
The words of wisdom from the Dalai Lama; N- never lie, cheat or steal. Y- you are unique, nothing can replace you. At least, those are the words I find to be the most influential. They apply to anyone and everyone at all ages and stages of life. The Dalai Lama has a whole alphabet dedicated to life principles, called A to Zen of life. When you cheat you steal the truth away from someone. Trust is lost and it's hard to believe in anything. When you steal people are afraid to have you around, and that's how stereotyping starts. YOU are unique, you can make a change in yourself and others. That's how innovation happens, people have faith in themselves and what they are capable of. What a beautiful thing to know that in our free country we are irreplaceable. What's important to you? How do you apply morals to your daily life?

My Hero
If only I could meet him, learn how he handled the stress it must have taken, understand his wisdom, and to always think before acting. Philosopher, politician, lawyer, diplomat, and patriot, John Adams was a true hero. He was the true leader for independence during the Revolutionary War. He was a delagate to the first and second Continental Congress, Vice President of the United States for two terms, and soon after, President. He didn't want war but knew that it may be the only choice to save his country from being ruled. What a strong and independent character? He was a man with many morals and a well thought out mind. A quote from John Adams says; "A desire to be observed, considered, esteemed, praised, beloved and admired by his fellows is one of the keenest dispositions discovered in the heart of man."
